What is our Program?
- The Mobility Housing Service Program assists Housing Choice Voucher recipients move into High Opportunity/Mobility Areas within the City of Houston.
What is an Opportunity Area?
- High Opportunity areas have 20% or fewer of their families living below the poverty level, and include affordable and quality housing, career advancement opportunities, strong educational opportunities for children, and low crime.

What happens when you are accepted into the program?
- Families in the Housing Mobility Program will work with a Case Manager, and go through various training, and goal setting to prepare them to find a home in an Opportunity Area. The program starts with a pre-move appointment where a caseworker and the family discuss the family’s housing and community needs and plan to prepare and search for homes.
Program Eligibility
- Families must currently have a Housing Choice Voucher or come off the waitlist to receive a voucher
- Have a child 17 years or younger.
- Have at least 3 months before you need to move.
- Be in good standing with your current landlord.
Benefits Offered
- Leasing Support for Families in the Housing Mobility Program
- Provide financial support to cover certain expenses of families moving to an Opportunity Area, such as:
- Security deposits
- Application fees
- Moving expenses
